Welcome back to 15 Days of Intentional Summer Toddler Activities! You can see all the posts in this series here.
Just because it’s summertime and we are spending more time outdoors it doesn’t mean we stop learning. I want to be intentional to continue teaching my little one his colors.
5 Summer Color Recognition Activities
A Garden Treasure Hunt from One Perfect Day – This activity would be partnered with messy play outside, as well. Together we can paint rocks different colors; then after they have dried Mommy or Daddy can hide them and let Sam find them, calling out the color as he finds them. In addition, we could line them up and let him run and pick up the color we call out as a variation. The possibilities are endless!
Sidewalk Simon from Toddler Approved – Love this idea! We would keep it simple by calling out different colors to stand on.
Chalk Color Match Game from Inspiration Laboratories – Such a great way to teach color recognition while exposing a toddler to the spelling of each color.
Nature Color Hunt from No Time for Flash Cards – Love this idea for when we’re out walking. I can even make it as simple as requesting items for him to hand to me.
Color Hop from Train Up a Child – Love the idea of mixing gross motor skills with learning colors.
Those are a few of the ideas that I plan to implement to reinforce colors over the summer!
What ideas would you add to the list?
